Getting to Know Val

Hi, In the beginning, in 8th grade, sewing was offered as an elective in school & I immediately fell totally in love with the sewing machine. I coninued sewing thru high school, marriage & four babies.

Back in the 1970's I could save quite of bit of money by making my kids clothes. Which was cute until they reached high school, when it was no longer cool.

So I started making dolls, selling many Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, tried my hand at crocheting and knitting for a few years. After the kids 'left the nest', I purchased an antique parlor stove which led to, believe it or not, my obsession for quilting.

I collected many antique stoves for their art work and beauty, I then decided to create a quilt with the most desirable antique stoves on its cover. This turned out so beautiful, many of my antique stove-collector friends wanted one of their own. This venture turned into 25 quilts, over 100 pillows, tablecloths, tote bags and pot holders--all with desirable antique stove pictures on them. My long armer was retiring & I didn't know where to have my quilts finished so I did my homework on quilting machines & fell in love with the gammill statler stitcher. Spending many $$$$$.00 - I was off & running with a new & wild adventure learning to machine quilt.

FINALLY, I've found my niche in this world, and I'm in total heaven! Every quilt is so different, I am challenged by all the designs, colors and patterns (WOMEN AMAZE ME WITH ALL THEIR CREATIVITY) and this in turn offers me new challenges and I do love challenges.

My precious, wonderful Mom with her newest great-granddaughter, Rylee, born 2/9/07.  Mom had cancer > had her kidney removed in July, 2006.  She's finally feeling good again, on Stem Enhance.  She's 83!	My oldest grandchild, Chelseylee, 11, & youngest grandchild as of 2/9/07, Rylee Sierra.	Savannah Leigh, born 11/15/06 We had two new granddaughters in just 3 months!
