Frequently Asked Questions.......

How hard is the STATLER to quilt on?
Can you use a mouse to navigate through a computer screen?  Then you can do this!  All it takes are the computer skills you use to read E-mail.  You don't even need to know how to piece a quilt, whole cloth quilts with one of my gorgeous all over patterns are wonderful.

What type of thread do you use?
I use primarily PERMA CORE - it is a cotton wound polyester that is strong enough to handle the speed and heat generated by my STATLER during quilting.  Also available are "SIGNATURE" AND "KING TUT" variegated threads.

Are you open in the evenings?
Just call and check on availability.  I do not mind being available when the desire to quilt hits you.

What do I need to do before I come over to use "ELVIS"?
Finish you quilt completely.  Press your seams, snip your threads, and make sure your top and back are square.  Bring batting if you like or I have many to choose from.  Do not attach all 3 layers together with pins or basting.  Choose a couple of patterns that you like from KIM DIAMOND pattern book.

I found a pattern I like but you don't have it.
If you find a pattern that you would like to use that I don't have, let me know and give me a week to get it.  My patterns cost between $10 - $30.  I ask that you pay for half of the pattern price and I will pay the other half.

For Your Information

Square up:
If you have made contoured corners, baste a piece of muslin across the contoured edge to make it square.  The quilt will not be stretched properly if it is not square.

Salvage be gone:
If you need to piece the quilt backing, trim off the salvage edges first and make 1/4" seam allowances.  Press it good:  especially the seam allowances.  Embellish later:  buttons, bows and beads must wait until after the quilting is completed - then go wild!

Short sheet your quilt:
Save yourself the frustration of bad tension and broken threads.  Sheets are too tightly woven to use as a backing.
