Hi,
My name is Val. I've been sewing since the 8th grade, after taking a sewing class at school and falling in love with the sewing machine. I coninued to sew through high school, marriage and four babies.
After my children reached high school and it was no longer cool for them to wear the clothes I sewed for them, I concentrated my sewing efforts on making dolls instead, selling many Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, along with trying my hand at crocheting and knitting for a few years. It wasn't until after the kids 'left the nest', that I purchased an antique parlor stove which led to, believe it or not, my obsession for quilting!
I collected many antique stoves for their art work and beauty, deciding at some point to create a quilt top featuring the most desirable antique stoves. This Stove Quilted Pillow (at right) turned out so beautifully, many of my antique stove-collector friends wanted one of their own...a venture that turned into 25 quilts, over 100 pillows, tablecloths, tote bags and pot holders.
Because my long armer was retiring and I didn't know where else to have my quilts finished, I did my homework on quilting machines and fell in love with the Gammill Statler Stitcher. After purchasing a Gammill of my own, I was off and running, with a new and wild adventure learning to machine quilt.
I'm happy to say I've finally found my niche in this world...I'm in total heaven! Every quilt is so unique and I am continually challenged and inspired by the endless variety of designs, colors and patterns, as well as the stunning creativity of my clients.
